Caregivers

Caregivers

In Israel there are many senior citizens who are in need of constant care and supervision, and their ability to maintain a daily routine depends directly on their foreign caregivers who often live with them and take of care of them on a 24/7 basis.

Choosing a caregiver is not an easy task, mainly because it’s so important: We are talking about choosing a person that will spend most of his days in an up-close and personal proximity to our family member and he has to be skilled as well as dedicated and kind. Since his work cannot be monitored constantly, it is important to know that your family member is in good hands, even when you or your family are not around.

Many families would prefer to hire a caregiver who is already in the country, has already learned some Hebrew and is already familiar with the Israeli mentality.

Often, the family would also prefer a caregiver who was recommended to them by someone they know, instead of asking for a new employee.

The problem is that veteran and experienced caregivers are often on the very verge of completing the maximum period of time they are allowed to work in Israel consecutively (63 months) and some of them are even beyond.

It is important to know: The law allows for the regulation of status even for veteran caregivers!

Recently, the law was changed and criteria were determined for choosing the nursing caregiver, but even in cases that do not meet the criteria – it is possible to arrange the employment of the caregiver in a legal procedure. The reason for this is that the welfare of the Israeli patient is above all, and our office has had many successes in the courts and succeeded in arranging the status of nursing caregivers even when the Interior Ministry rejected the requests.

So if you found the perfect caregiver and you are afraid of letting him go because he is close to the end of the maximum period, contact us today and find out what you can do secure his stay.
